"So, where to now?" Flint asked.
"Um...Mt. Moon," Ollie said as he looked at the map.
"Mt. Moon? Why is it called that?"
Ollie put two of his fingers on the side of his head. "Hmm...let
me use my
psychic powers to figure that one out," he said sarcastically.
Pikachu laughed.
"I think I've heard stories about this place," stated Jackie.
"Something
about Clefairys and the Moon Stone or something."
"Are Clefairys Pokemon?" asked Flint.
"Yeah, but I don't know what the Moon Stone is."
Ollie looked up and pointed. "I think that's it."
"Wow," said Flint in amazement. "Well, what are we waiting for?
Let's go!"
And they ran towards the mountain.
Pikachu's ears wiggled. It heard something. "Pika-Pi," it said.
(Flint, I
hear something.)
"What do you hear?" Flint asked.
Pikachu hopped off of Flint's shoulder and ran towards the sound.
"Hey! Pikachu where are you going?" asked Flint as he and the
group
followed Pikachu.
They followed Pikachu until they saw a little Pidgey on the ground.
"It looks like its injured," Flint stated. He bent down and took
a look at
it.
"I might be able to help," said Ollie. "My dad is a Pokemon breeder
and
taught me a few things."
Ollie bent down too and looked over it. "Hmm..." he finally said.
"Its
wing is hurt and needs some medication."
"Well, what can we do?" asked Jackie. "We're right in the middle
of no
where."
"Maybe there's somebody on Mt. Moon who can help us. There's
bound to be
at least one person in there. Maybe we'll get lucky."
"Yeah. Let's go!" said Flint as Pikachu hopped on his shoulder
and they
headed towards Mt. Moon.
Ollie carried Pidgey in his arms and he and Jackie ran after
Flint and
Pikachu.
When they got up there, they saw a Pokemon Center.
"Wow," said Ollie. "We are so lucky."
"Yeah," agreed Jackie. "Maybe we should go to a casino sometime."
They went inside the Pokemon Center and saw Nurse Joy.
"What the-?" started Flint when he saw her. "Weren't you in Viridian
City?"
"Oh, no, that was my cousin in Viridian City. Didn't my sister
in the
Pewter City Pokemon Center explain to you about us?"
"That's what we forgot to do. We forgot to go to the Pokemon
Center
there."
"Our Pokemon probably feel like crap," said Ollie.
"Yeah, Pikachu. How do you feel?" asked Flint.
"Pikachu, Pika" Pikachu said. (I feel a little woozy.)
"Okay," said Nurse Joy. "I'll heal all of your Pokemon."
She took Pikachu and their Pokeballs.
"Wait a sec," said Ollie. "I've got this Pidgey and it's hurt
pretty bad."
"Alright, I'll need a stretcher for a Pidgey," said Nurse Joy
as she typed
some stuff in her computer.
In a few seconds, two Chanseys came and took the Pidgey.
"You'll need to wait here," said Nurse Joy as she followed the
Chanseys
into the ER, still carrying the Pokeballs and Pikachu on a tray.
The group sat on a couch for a little while, then Flint said,
"I think
I'll call home now. I haven't called them at all and we've been gone
for
days."
He went over to the videophone and dialed his number. Misty answered.
"Hello?" she said.
"Hi, Mom. It's me."
"Oh! Ash, Ash, come here! Flint's on the phone!"
Flint heard a voice. "He is?"
Then he saw his mom and dad on the screen.
"Hey, son," said Ash. "So, what's been going on?"
"Well," said Flint as he opened his coat and showed them his
badge. "I got
a Thunderbadge!"
"Hey! Good job!"
Misty started to cry. "Oh, my little boy is growing up so much.
I'll go
tell Zoe that you're on the phone."
"So," said Ash after Misty left, "where are you?"
"I'm in the Pokemon Center by Mt. Moon."
"Wow. You're there already? How long has it been? About a week?"
"Yeah."
"Pretty good time. What Pokemon do you have?"
"Let's see...I have Psyduck, of course, Rattata, and Pikachu."
Ash thought of something and then laughed. "That would be funny
if your
Pikachu and mine were related."
"That would be weird. Is that even possible?"
"Well, it could be. Pikachu got together with a female before
you were
born and they had a litter. But something happened and Pikachu never
saw
his family again."
"Woah. Poor guy. Speaking of which, is he around?"
"Yeah, sure. But Zoe wants to talk to you first."
Flint saw Zoe bounce up to the screen. "Hi, Big Brother."
"Hey, Munchkin. How're you doing?"
"Oh, I'm fine. Do you know what happened yesterday?"
"No. What?"
Zoe started to laugh. "Blastoise and Venusaur saw me having tea
with my
dolls, and they wanted some tea, so I told them that they could have
tea
with me if I could dress them up. So, after a while they said yes!
They
looked so funny, and they were in doll clothes!"
Flint didn't hear what she said, but he laughed too. He was just
looking
at his sister. Zoe, so full of life, so happy. He missed her so much.
He
missed his entire family.
After he got out of his little trance, he heard Zoe say, "Bye,
Flint. I
love you."
"I love you too, Zoe."
She left, and then Pikachu (Ash's Pikachu) popped in the screen.
"Pika-Pikachu!" (Hi, Flint!)
"Hey, Pikachu! So what's going on?"
"Pika-Pika, Pi-Pikachu?"
(Did Zoe tell you what she did to
Blastoise and Venusaur?)
"Yeah."
Just then, Nurse Joy
walked up and said, "You're Pokemon are
healed." She gave Flint his Pokemon. "Here you are."
"Thanks," Flint replied.
Pikachu, (Flint's Pikachu)
jumped on Flint's lap. "I'm gonna call
you Pikachu Jr. now, so that everyone won't get confused with you and
my
dad's Pikachu."
"Pika-Pika," Pikachu Jr.
said. (Okay.)
Pikachu (Sr.) froze. Somehow,
he thought he saw that Pikachu
somewhere before.
Flint spoke up. "Pikachu? What's
wrong?"
"Pikachu, Pika-Pi. Pi-Pikachu,"
(Oh, it's nothing. Ash and Misty
want to talk to you again.)
"Okay. Bye, Pikachu. See you later."
"Hello again," Ash said when Pikachu
handed him the phone. "I suppose
you want to get off and head up to Mt. Moon, huh?"
"Oh. Well, yeah, I guess so," Flint
replied.
"Well, okay. See you Flint. Be careful."
"Goodbye, Flint," Misty said as she
began to cry again. "I love you."
"I love you, too, Mom. Bye," Flint said
as he hung up the phone and
sighed.
The group finally left after they ate, and
Ollie and Jackie called
their homes too.
"I guess you can keep the Pidgey since you
took care of it the most,"
Flint said to Ollie as they walked up the trail.
"Okay. Thanks," Ollie said.
Jackie pointed. "There's the cave. Let's go!"
The Mt. Moon cave was dark. Really dark. "Anybody
got a flashlight?"
Flint asked.
"I do," answered Jackie as she dug a flashlight
out of her bag and
turned it on.
All of a sudden, a Zubat appeared!
"I get this one!" yelled Flint. "Pikachu,
go!"
Pikachu ran up to the Zubat. "Pikachu, thundershock!"
Pikachu electrocuted Zubat instantly. "That
was easy. Pokeball, go!"
The Pokeball landed on Zubat. After a few
little wiggles, it stopped.
"Yes! We got Zubat! Great work, Pikachu!"
"Pika!" it said as it put two fingers in the
air.
"Wait a minute," Ollie said. "Don't bats usually
fly in swarms?"
"I think so," Jackie replied. They heard a
little screech. "Um, guys?
Do you hear that?"
"Yeah," said Ollie. "Oh, crap."
Suddenly, a group of Zubats flew down
from the ceiling!
"AAAAHHHH!!" the group yelled as they ran around
in circles. Finally, the Zubats flew out the cave.
"Oh, geez. I hate bats," said Jackie.
"Who doesn't?" replied Flint. "C'mon. Let's
keep going. Cerulean City
gym is waiting, Ollie."
"Um, Flint?" started Ollie. "I've been thinking.
I'm not sure if I
want to become a Pokemon Master anymore."
Flint turned around and looked at Ollie. "What?"
"Well, taking that injured Pidgey to the Pokemon
Center and seeing how
they do things really inspired me."
"What are you saying?"
"I want to start my own Pokemon Center and
become a Pokemon Doctor."
"But, we were going to be the two greatest
Pokemon Masters ever, and
people would call us the 'Poke Master Duo.' "
"I know, but things change. I changed, Flint.
I've made up my mind."
Flint sat down against a wall. "I don't know
what to say. We always
talked about being Pokemon Master. I mean, doesn't that mean anything
to
you?"
"Sure it does. But that's in the past, Flint.
I can't do what you want
me to do."
Flint started to get angry. "But you abandoned
our dream, Ollie!"
"It's your dream, Flint! It used to be mine too,
but not anymore. I
can't see why you can't accept that!"
"Guys, stop arguing!" yelled Jackie.
"Stay out of this!" they both yelled back.
Suddenly, two figures walked out of the shadows.
"Hey! What are you
doing here?"
The group looked over. "Who are you?" Flint asked.
One of the figures replied back, "The question is,
'Who are you?' "
"Well," said Jackie. "We're Pokemon trainers."
"Why are you here? This is Team Rocket HQ!"
"Oh, great. We must've stumbled on here by accident!"
Jackie started to
walk away. "We were just leaving, weren't we, guys?" She grabbed their
arms
and they tried to run out of there.
"Arbok, go!" one of the figures yelled.
Arbok popped right in front of the group.
"Uh oh," they said.
Team Rocket grabbed them. "You know where our headquarter
are, so you
get to go to our jail!"
"What a privilege," Flint muttered as they all got
drug off.
