Flint and Ollie were excited. They were glad to be free. No bedtime,
no
restrictions; they were free to do whatever they pleased.
"This is great! No hassles or anything!" said Ollie as he walked
along and
stretched.
"Yeah," said Flint as he looked at his Pokedex and studied Psyduck's
moves. "Hey, I got an idea!"
"What?"
"We should battle each other!"
"Okay," said Ollie as he took out his Pokeball. "Geodude, come
out!"
"Psyduck, go!"
Geodude and Psyduck both came out of their Pokeballs.
"Psy-syduck!"
"Geodude!"
"Wait a minute," said Flint. "Maybe we should coach our Pokemon
for a
minute."
"Sure," replied Ollie.
"Okay, Psyduck," said Flint when he kneeled by Psyduck. Then
he pointed to
Geodude. "That's your opponent. He's who you attack. Are you ready?"
"Psyduck!"
"Okay good."
Ollie was saying the same things to Geodude.
"Are you ready now, Ollie?"
"Yep. Go, Geodude!"
"Go, Psyduck!"
"Geodude, tackle attack!"
"Look out, Psyduck!"
Geodude charged into Psyduck, and Psyduck fell. Then he got up
and started
running around in circles.
"Psyduck!" Flint yelled. "Get back in the fight! Scratch attack
now!"
Psyduck looked at Flint and then at Geodude. He ran towards Geodude
and
started scratching him over and over, but it didn't seem to have any
effect.
"Geodude! Get him!" yelled Ollie. Geodude punched Psyduck down.
Psyduck
started to run around in circles again.
Just then, a Rattata appeared.
"Hey, stop for a minute!" Flint said. "Look over there!"
Ollie looked over and saw it. "Hey cool!"
He analyzed it with his Pokedex and so did Flint. "Rattata,"
the Pokedex
said. "A mouse Pokemon. It mainly lives in forests, but it also comes
out
into open fields to steal food from wandering travelers."
"So, who's gonna get it?" asked Flint after he put his Pokedex
back in his
pocket.
"Well, you saw it first, so I guess you can have it. But I get
the next
one!" said Ollie.
"Hey, thanks, man," said Flint. Then he called for Psyduck. "Get
the
Rattata!"
Psyduck walked towards the Rattata. "Tail Whip now!"
Psyduck turned around and walked backwards towards the Rattata,
shaking
his little tail the whole way. Rattata saw an opprotunity and bit Psyduck's
tail!
"Psyduck!!" yelled Psyduck as he ran in circles with the Rattata
hanging
on his tail.
"Oh, man! Psyduck!" moaned Flint. Just then, he got an idea.
"Psyduck,
hold still for a second!"
Psyduck stopped and looked at Flint with a confused look on its
face.
"Turn around, Psyduck."
So Psyduck turned around. Flint took out a Pokeball. "Pokeball,
go!"
The Pokeball hit Rattata, and it went inside the Pokeball. Rattata
shook
around inside for a minute and then stopped.
"Alright! I caught Rattata!!" said Flint. He held up his Pokeball
and ran
around excited. "Whoo-ho! Thanks, Psyduck!"
He ran up and hugged Psyduck.
"Good job, Flint," said Ollie.
"Thanks, man!"
"How'd you do that, though?" Ollie asked. "I mean, don't you
have to
weaken it first?
"Well, my theory was if it was distracted, then I might be able
to capture
it. I got lucky, though. It probably won't work again. Rattata looked
kind
of weak already."
"Hmmm. Well, I get the next one. Remember that."
"Okay, okay. I'm gonna bring Rattata out to meet the team."
So Rattata met everyone and they continued their Pokemon journey.
Suddenly, a weird looking creature jumped out of some bushes.
"Woah! What is that?" said Flint.
"I don't know. Is that even a Pokemon?" asked Ollie.
"Mu-Muro," the creature said.
Flint and Ollie took out their Pokedex's. "No data found. There
are still
Pokemon yet to be discovered."
"Crap," muttered Ollie. "It looks like some sort of rabbit mixed
with a
bear or something. Anyway, I'm gonna capture it! I don't care what
it is!"
Ollie took out his Pokeball and threw it. "Geodude, go!"
Geodude came out.
"Geodude, tackle it!" Geodude charged towards the weird Pokemon,
but the
Pokemon charged back at it, and even faster! Geodude and the creature
ran
into each other, and Geodude was knocked backwards.
"Geodude! Are you okay?" said Ollie. Geodude nodded and got back
up.
"Geodude, Seismic Toss!"
Geodude tried to grab the creature but it was too quick and grabbed
Geodude instead! The creature jumped in the air and then threw Geodude
down
with all its might.
"It's copying Geodude's attacks!" yelled Ollie. He went by Geodude's
side.
"Are you alright?"
"Geo-d-dude," it managed to say.
"Hey, Ollie!" Flint said. "That Pokemon is gone!"
"What?" said Ollie as he put Geodude back in the Pokeball and
looked up.
"What was that thing, anyway?" asked Flint.
"I have no idea. What did it say?"
" 'Muru', I think. That must be what it's called."
"It was tough. It copied all of Geodude's moves and doubled them!"
"Yeah. I guess we should go now."
They walked along and finally got to Viridian City.
