"Well, guys, we're here," Flint said as they entered Saffron once
again.
"Oh, joy," Shari mumbled. "I can hardly wait to die."
"Ah, we won't die. I'm sure we can beat Sabrina since we've got
our three ghost Pokemon with us."
Flint looked at the three ghost Pokemon...or, two of them. "Where's
Haunter?" he asked.
Haunter peaked over behind Gengar, shivering. "H-haunter haun,"
he said. (I don't think I'm ready.)
He started floating away, slowly, so that no one would notice.
Flint did.
"Haunter," he said. "It'll be okay. There's lots of us here.
You have your two buddies and they'll help you out."
Haunter sighed, "Haun." (Okay.)
They walked towards Saffron gym, not saying a word. Then Shari
broke the silence. "What do you think Sabrina would do to us if we lose?"
"I don't know," Flint said. "But we won't lose. We can't lose."
"Wait," Ollie said, stopping. "Suppose we do lose, and she kills
us or something-"
"Ollie!" Jackie yelled. "Don't think that!"
"No, I'm just saying what if. I think I wanna call home right
now...just in case this is my last day here."
"You don't have to come if you don't want to," Flint stated.
"In fact, none of you need to come. All's I need our the three ghosts,
and I'm fine."
"No, Flint," Ollie said sternly. "I'm going to fight with you
to the end. You're my best friend and we will train Pokemon with each other
until we die. If you go, I go."
"Hey thanks, pal."
"I'm going too," Jackie said. "I couldn't stand to live without
you guys."
"Are you sure?" asked Ollie. "I don't want you to die."
Jackie hugged Ollie. "You're sweet, but hey, who says we're gonna
die?"
Shari sighed. "Peer pressure...it'll kill ya."
They all looked at her. "How about you, Shari?" asked Flint.
Shari thought a minute, then said, "Ah, you know I'll go. Let's
do it."
"Pika-Pi, chu pika. Pikachu pi!" Pikachu exclaimed. (Flint, your
the best trainer a Pokemon could have. Let's go kick some psychic's butt!)
"All right!" yelled Flint.
So, before they went to Sabrina's gym, they went to the local
Pokemon center, and called their families, but not telling them that today,
they may die.
After Shari, Jackie and Ollie were done on the phone, Flint called
his family.
Pikachu (Ash's Pikachu) was watching "The All Pikachu channel"
on TV when the phone rang. "Ring! Ring! Ring! Phone call! Phone call!"
"Pi pikachu pika?" Pikachu muttered. (Why does the phone always
ring at the best parts?)
He picked up the phone. "Pika?" (Hello?)
"Hi, Pikachu!" Flint said, on the other line.
"Pika-Pi! Pika pikachu! Pi pi ka chu?" (Hi Flint! Long time no
see! Where are you?)
"Saffron City."
"Pi. Pika chu kachu." (Cool. Say hi to Sabrina for me.)
"I'm afraid that won't be too easy. She's gone bad again."
Pikachu eyes widened. "Chu?" (How?)
"Well, her parents died, and now she's become evil again, but
now, she's even worse."
"Pikachu! Pika-pi!" said Pikachu. (Hold on! I'm gonna go get
your dad!)
"Wait, Pikachu do-"
But it was too late. Pikachu was already telling Ash. As soon
as Ash heard, he ran over to the phone.
"Flint! Don't go over there!" he yelled.
"But I have to!"
"No! She's too dangerous! She'll kill you!"
"Dad, I have to do this to become a Pokemon master!"
"I understand, but you shouldn't risk your life over this!"
"Yes I should! That's what Pokemon training is about! Sometimes
you have to risk it! You did too!"
"I know but-"
"I'll be alright. You pulled it off with just one ghost Pokemon,
but I got all three of them to help me."
Ash sighed. "Fine, but I need to give you a tip."
"What's that?"
"Tell your ghosts to make Sabrina laugh. That's what I did. Just
let them go wild."
"Um, okay."
A voice came from the other line. "Is that Flint?"
It was Misty. She ran up to the video screen. "Hi, honey! How
are you doing?"
"Fine."
"Where are you?"
"Saffron City."
"Say hi to Sab-"
Ash cut her off and told her. Of course, she had a fit. "Flint,
you can't go! I won't let you!"
"It's okay, hon," Ash said. "Flint has it all planned out."
"Still, I don't want him to go!"
"Mom, I'll be okay. Don't worry about me. I got all my friends
with me here."
"Wait a sec. What do you mean, 'All my friends'? Didn't you just
go with Ollie?"
"Yeah, but we met two girls during our trip, Jackie and Shari."
"Hey, two girls, huh?" asked Ash as he winked. "You da man."
"I'm not going out with any of them. We're just friends. In fact,
though, Ollie is going out with Jackie."
"Well, still one left. You go get her, bud."
"Ash, you're embarassing Flint."
"Where are they?"
"There here."
"Let me talk to them. And while you're at it, let me talk to
Ollie, too."
"Uh...okay..." he said as he walked over to his friends. "My
dad wants to talk to you guys. Don't know why though."
"Your dad's Ash Ketchum, right?" Shari asked.
"Yes..."
As soon as she heard that, she ran over to the phone. "Hello,
Mr. Ketchum!"
"Hi," Ash replied.
"I'm such a big fan! You're the best Pokemon trainer in the world!"
"I like her already," Ash said to Misty.
"Mrs. Misty Ketchum is there too?!"
"Yes, I'm right here," said Misty as she looked at the screen.
"Oh, wow! This is amazing! You're the famous Misty Ketchum, water
Pokemon Master! I want to be a water Pokemon master just like you!"
"Oh...well, thank you."
"Hey, Flint," Jackie said while Shari's conversation was going.
"I'm gonna go meet your parents too."
Flint put his hand over his eyes and sighed, even though Jackie
was a little bit more calm than Shari...just a little.
After everyone talked on the phone, Flint said goodbye to his
parents, and they departed for the Pokemon gym.
When they got to the front door, right before they went inside,
Sabrina's cousin came out of nowhere and stood in front of them.
"Jeremy? What are you doing here?" asked Flint.
"I'm just here to see that you are ready," he stated. "Well,
are you?"
"Yeah, look. We've got three ghost Pokemon right here," he said
as he revealed Haunter, Gengar and Gastly.
"Haunter!" exclaimed Jeremy. "You're back!"
"Ha-haun. Ter haun haunter," Haunter replied. (Yep. Me and my
buddies are gonna make Sabrina better.)
"Well, it's great to have you back."
He turned his attention to Flint. "You have the ghosts, but are
you sure they are experienced enough to battle?" Jeremy asked.
"I don't know. They may not even have to battle. I have a stragedy.
All's they gotta do is make Sabrina laugh and get her sense of humor back."
"Well, Flint, I'm not sure how easy that's gonna be, but good
luck. See you later."
And with that, he disappeared again.
"I hope we know what we're doing," said Jackie as they all stepped
inside the gym.
They felt that chill again, but they continued on and opened
the door to the arena.
"Sabrina?" called Flint. "I'm here to challenge you to a Pokemon
battle!"
They heard her voice. "Oh, you are, are you?"
Suddenly, she floated out from the shadows, and stepped into
the ring. She was the freakiest person that any of them had ever seen.
"Well, bye," Shari said as she walked towards the door.
"No one leaves!" yelled Sabrina as her eyes started glowing and
the door closed suddenly.
"Well, there you have it," Ollie said. "We're gonna die."
"Pikachu pika pi," Pikachu agreed.
"You can't scare me, Sabrina!" Flint lied. "Enough talk! Let's
battle!"
Shari looked over at the ghost Pokemon. "Oh, I see you brought
along Haunter. Hello, there."
"Haunter haun, ha haunter," Haunter said. (The pleasure's all
yours, I'm sure.)
"Okay guys," Flint said as he huddled with the ghosts and his
friends. "Put away your fear and just be funny. Dad said to go wild."
Ollie clapped his hands. "Break!"
They got out of their huddle and started saying jokes and acting
like the three stooges, and basically, well, making fools of themselves.
"What is this?!" yelled Sabrina. "Some sort of Comedy Festival?
Comedy is not allowed here! Stop it now!"
Her eyes lit up and everyone fell to the ground.
"Okay, plan number two!" Flint said. "Go, Haunter!"
Haunter got on the ring, ready to battle.
Sabrina took out a Pokeball. "Kadabra, go."
She threw it and Kadabra came out of the Pokeball.
"What's that?" asked Flint as he took out his Pokedex.
"Kadabra, it emits special alpha waves from its body that induce
headaches just by being close by."
"Hmmm...sounds like something for Psyduck. Alright, Haunter!
Use lick!"
Haunter disappeared and reappeared by Kadabra. As soon as it
stuck out its tongue to paralyze Kadabra, Kadabra disappeared too, and
then reappeared behind Haunter. "Kadabra, psychic!"
Kadabra shot off a wave towards Haunter and made it confused.
"Hang in there, Haunter!" encouraged Flint. "Just try to shake
it off!"
Haunter got away from Kadabra and healed, then Flint yelled,
"Haunter, night shade!"
Haunter shot off night shade towards Kadabra, but Kadabra reversed
it and it hit Haunter! Suddenly, Haunter fell to the ground.
"Kadabra, psywave!" Sabrina ordered.
Kadabra pointed at Haunter and hit it to the ceiling then made
it fall back again, and it kept repeating the attack.
"Haunter!!!" Flint yelled. "Stop it now, Sabrina!"
Sabrina stopped Kadabra, while Flint ran up to Haunter. "Are
you alright?" asked Flint.
Haunter shook its head. "H-haun haunter haun ter. Ha haunter."
(I thought I could help Sabrina, but I guess I couldn't. I'm going down.)
Gengar and Gastly ran up to Haunter. "Geng gengar. G-gengar,"
Gengar said, getting weepy. (You can't leave us, Haunter. You won't.)
"G-gast gastly," Gastly said, starting to cry too. (C'mon bud
you can make it.)
"Can ghosts even die?" Ollie asked. "I thought they were already
dead."
"Well," Jackie started. "He has to leave the earth sometime.
You can't stay here forever. Maybe."
Suddenly, the good side of Sabrina had 25 years of flashbacks
in about 5 seconds. Flashbacks of how many good times she and Haunter had,
and how when she got hurt, Haunter was there to help her. Now she needed
to help him too.
"No!" she yelled as she ran up to Haunter. "You cannot leave!"
She dug some medicine out of her pocket and poured it in Haunter's
mouth.
"What are you doing?" asked Flint.
"Pika pi?" asked Pikachu. (What's going on?)
"This will help him," she replied.
Instantly, Haunter got up. "Ha ha! Haunter!" he exclaimed. (Yeah!
That's better!)
"You're alright!" said Sabrina as she hugged Haunter.
"Ha haunt! Haunter haun! Ha haunter haun?" he said. (I was fine
all along! It was all an act! Don't you know that ghost can't die?)
"That was a dirty trick, Haunter!" said Sabrina. "But, thank
you."
Suddenly, Jeremy teleported in the room. "You all did well! Sabrina
is back to normal again! Good job, guys!"
"Jeremy!" exclaimed Sabrina happily as she hugged him.
"But, how did that happen?" asked Flint.
"Yeah, one minute she was a little witch, the next minute she's
all nice and stuff!" said Ollie, confused.
"Love is one of the strongest forces in the world, guys," said
Jackie.
"Sabrina's love for Haunter overcame her hatred and bitterness,"
Shari stated.
"Well, I guess you would know that since you're girls," said
Flint.
"Flint, I award you this Marshbadge!" said Sabrina as she showed
him the badge and gave it to him.
"How come?" he asked. "I didn't beat you."
"Yes, but you helped make me turn good again, and you deserve
it."
"Okay! Yes! I got the Marshbadge!"
So, after all the touching reunions, the group left the Saffron
City Gym, leaving Haunter, Gengar, and G- wait a sec. Gastly is following
them!
"G-g-gastly! Gast ly gast?" called Gastly. (Wait, Flint! Can
I join you on your quest?)
"Sure, Gastly!" replied Flint as he took out a Pokeball. "Pokeball,
go!" he yelled as it hit Gastly and he went inside. "Alright! I got Gastly!
Welcome to the group!"
So, after that adventure, they continue on their journey to face
a lot more adventures.
