"Charmander!"
"Hey look, Jackie!" Flint exclaimed, pointing. "There's a Charmander!"
Jackie looked over. "Oh, cool! He's mine!" Jackie took out a Pokeball.
"Vulcan, go!"
She threw it, and with a red beam of light coming out of the Pokeball,
Vulcan (Jackie's Pikachu) came out.
"Vulcan, thunder shock!" Jackie yelled.
Vulcan shot electricity towards the Charmander, but it dodged. Then it
put up its tail, and fire shot out towards Vulcan.
"Agility, Vulcan! Get away from the fire!"
Vulcan darted back and forth running away from Charmander's fire. After
Charmander stopped, Jackie yelled, "Okay, Vulcan! Now that you're speed
is up, quick attack!"
Vulcan turned right around, and zoomed towards Charmander. Before
Charmander knew it, he had fallen on the ground. "Vulcan, thundershock!"
Vulcan electrocuted Charmander, and Jackie threw a Pokeball. The
Pokeball landed on Charmander and sucked him in. The Pokeball shook a
little, but then finally stopped.
"Yeah!" Jackie exclaimed. "We got Charmander!"
"Pikachu!" Vulcan yelled happily.
"Good job, Vulcan! Take a little rest," Jackie said as she took out
Vulcan's Pokeball and sucked him back in.
"Nice work," Ollie said.
"Yeah, that was good," Shari agreed. "Hey Fli-"
Shari stopped and looked around. "Hey, where's Flint?"
Ollie and Jackie looked around too. "He was here just a minute ago,"
Ollie stated.
"Flint! Where are you?" they all called out.
"Pikachu is gone, too," Ollie said, confused.
All of a sudden they heard, "AAAAAHHHHH!!!!" and Flint came out of some
bushes, along with Pikachu. "Run for your life!!" he yelled as he darted
past them.
"Where are you going, Flint?" Ollie asked.
"L-Look over there!" Shari said as she pointed to where Flint came.
Suddenly, a dozen angry ape like Pokemon charged out of the bushes.
"AAAHHHH!!!" they all screamed as they turned around and ran behind
Flint.
They kept a pretty good pace behind Flint until all of a sudden, they
lost him.
"Where'd he go?" asked Jackie as they kept running.
They heard a voice. "I'm over here!"
They looked over and saw Flint hiding in a little cave with Pikachu.
They wasted no time and ran in there with them. They knelt down as the
angry Pokemon darted by, thinking they were still running.
"What were those?" Ollie asked.
"Primeapes," Flint replied.
"Why did they run after you?" asked Jackie.
"Well, I saw one of them and tried to catch it, but then out of
nowhere, a bunch of them jumped out of the trees and started chasing
me!"
"Why didn't you stay with us?"
"Well, I looked over and saw the Primeape just sitting there, and it
wasn't too far away, so I just snuck off. I didn't wanna wait because I
didn't know if it would leave, but I also didn't wanna interrupt the
battle."
"You almost got us killed!" Shari yelled as she hit Flint upside the
head.
"It wasn't my fault! And don't hit me unless you wanna stay in a
hospital bed the rest of your life!" Flint yelled back, angry.
"Guys! Guys!" Jackie and Ollie said trying to break up the fight. "Stop
fighting and let's get back to where we were."
"Pika-Pikachu! Pi-Pi!" Pikachu said. (Yeah, guys! Let's go!)
They stepped out of the cave and retraced their steps back to where
they were before. They found the underground path to Vermillion City and
went inside.
As soon as they got in there, they were challenged by a beautiful girl.
"Hey, you over there!" she said when she saw Flint. "I've been waiting
here for a while, and I want to battle! I need to get my Pokemon more
experienced before I face Col. Surge in Vermillion City!"
Flint smiled a sly little smile. "Okay, you're on! How about a two
Pokemon battle!"
"Fine with me," she replied. "Jigglypuff, go!"
She threw her Pokeball and a little balloon-like Pokemon came out.
"Jiggly!" it said.
Flint analyzed it with his Pokedex. "Jigglypuff. When its huge eyes
light up, it sings a mysteriously soothing melody that lulls its enemies
to sleep."
Flint put the Pokedex back in his pocket. "Hmmm...okay, Zubat, go!" he
threw his Pokeball and after a red flash came from it, Zubat came out.
"Jigglypuff, pound attack!" the girl yelled.
While this was going on, Ollie was just staring at the girl. "She's so
beautiful..." he said it as if he was hypnotized.
"Hey, Ollie!" Flint yelled. "Shut up and give me some tips!"
"W-What?" Ollie stuttered.
"Never mind."
"Well," Jackie said to Flint. "While you battle, me and Shari are going
look around for cute guys."
"Hey, wait a sec!" Ollie said after he got out of his little trance and
ran towards the girls. "Don't you want a handsome man instead? Like, oh,
me for example?"
Jackie and Shari fell on the floor laughing. "WAHAHAHA!!"
Then they got up again and Jackie asked, "Oh, you were serious?"
"I can take a hint," Ollie muttered and then walked away, looking at
the floor.
Jackie and Shari ran after him.
"Wait, Ollie!" Shari said.
When they got over to them, Jackie put her arm around him and said,
"Ollie, I'm sure the perfect girl is out there for you, somewhere. Just,
we're not the ones. Besides, I guess we shouldn't worry about that right
now. We're still young."
"That's right, Ollie," Shari agreed.
Ollie sighed. "Well, okay."
Jackie looked back. "It looks like Flint is almost done with his
battle."
"Finish it off, Rattata!" Flint yelled.
"Pika-Pika!" Pikachu cheered. (Go Flint! Go Flint!)
Rattata tackled it's opponent and it fell on the floor.
The girl sighed. "Bellsprout, return!" And Bellsprout was sucked back
in her Pokeball. "You're a good trainer," she said as she shook his
hand.
"You're not so bad yourself," Flint said. "Well, see you around."
"Perhaps we'll meet each other at Pokemon League," she said as she
walked off.
After they finally got out of the underground path, they made it to
Vermillion City, the Port of Exquisite Sunsets. As they were walking
towards the Pokemon Center they looked over and saw a huge ship anchored
by a deck.
"Oh, wow!" Jackie exclaimed. "I wish we could go on that."
"Yeah, right," Flint muttered. "You got about a million bucks for
tickets?"
"That's the St. Anne II," Shari stated. "It's the crem de la crem of
all ships."
"Looks like it," said Ollie. "That would be sweet to get tickets."
"Pika-Pikachu! Pi-Pi!" Pikachu yelled as he tried to run towards the
St. Anne II. (Okay that's it! I'm going on that ship!)
But Flint held him back. "Pull yourself together, Pikachu!"
Then he looked up and got off the subject. "Well, there's the Pokemon
Center. Let's go."
They went in and saw Nurse Joy at the counter. "How may I help you?"
she asked as they walked up to the counter.
"We just want to heal our Pokemon," Ollie replied. "By the way, you
wouldn't happen to be related to the Nurse Joy in Cerulean City would
you?"
"Oh, yes. I'm her second cousin."
Then she took their Pokemon and restored their health. After a few
minutes she came back.
After Flint took back Pikachu and his other Pokemon, he asked Nurse
Joy, "Um, do you happen to know what kind of Pokemon the gym leader here
uses?"
Joy replied, "I hear he uses electric type. But I've had a busy day
today because he beats almost all of his opponents. At least it seems
that way. He's a very good trainer. Just be careful."
All of a sudden, a boy came in and yelled, "Please help my Pidgeotto!
Col. Surge got him!"
"Well, here's another one," Nurse Joy said as she ran towards the boy
and called for a stretcher.
But just before she went into the ER, Ollie stopped her and asked, "Um,
Nurse Joy? I was just wondering, if maybe I could help you out. See, I
want to be a Pokemon doctor, and-"
Joy cut him off. "Sure. I'll need all the help I can get. Do you know
the basics of being a doctor?"
"Yeah. My dad taught me."
"Well, okay. C'mon."
And with that, they went into the ER.
"That gives me something to look forward to," Flint muttered. "Well,
I'm off to the gym. C'mon Pikachu."
"Pika," Pikachu mumbled. (I can't wait.)
"Pikachu," Flint said. "C'mon! Put some umph into it! You can beat Col.
Surge! You are the roughest, toughest, baddest Pikachu in the world!
Col. Surge is nothing!"
"Pikachu, Pi! Pi-Pikachu! Pika!" (Y'know, you're right! I can do this!
We'll beat the crap outta Surge!)
"That's the spirit!"
"Hey wait!" Shari called. "I wanna see this."
"How come?"
"I just wanna see you get your butt kicked."
"Ha ha, shut up."
"Well, I have nothing better to do," Jackie said. "Guess I'll come
too."
So, they walked over to the gym, and stepped inside...
