Cerulean City. People said that a Blue Aura surrounded it.
"I've been here many times," said Flint. "My aunts live here,
and me and
my family visit them."
"Okay, so where's the Pokemon Center?" asked Jackie.
Flint pointed. "Right over there."
"Well, let's go."
So, they walked over to the Pokemon Center and healed their Pokemon.
"So, guys," started Flint. "You gonna come and cheer me on at
the gym?"
"Uh, no," said Jackie. "I'm gonna go to a Pokemart and get some
supplies.
Then I'm gonna find the mall and try on clothes."
"Get me some stuff at the Pokemart," said Ollie as he threw Jackie
some
money.
"I'll meet you guys back here in an hour," said Jackie as she
walked out
the door.
Flint looked at Ollie. "And what are you gonna do?" he muttered.
"I'm going to stay here and get some info on Pokemon doctoring,"
Ollie
replied.
Flint sighed. "Fine. I'm going to the gym. C'mon Pikachu."
"Pika," Pikachu said. (Okay.)
Then they walked out the door. While Flint and Pikachu walked,
Flint said
sarcastically, "What nice friends they are."
"Pika-Pikachu, Pi-Pika," Pikachu said. (Don't worry Ash, I'll
cheer you
on.)
"Oh, no you don't! You're gonna help me win that badge!"
"Pika. Pikachu." (Oh, yeah. I forgot.)
"You should be able to kick their butt. You're an electric type,
and
electric is strong against water."
Flint looked up and saw the gym. The gym he'd been to many times
before.
Then he remembered something and he stopped. "Wait a minute! The gym
leaders are my relatives, so I can't battle them!"
"Pika-pi. Pi Pikachu," Pikachu said as he snapped his fingers,
disappointed. (Crap. I thought I was gonna have it easy.)
"Well, I guess we should go in anyway, to see my aunts."
They walked in. "Hello?" he called. "Are the three gym leaders
in here?"
One of Flint's aunts walked up behind a corner. "Oh! It's my
little
nephew! Misty said you would be dropping by soon!"
"Mmmphh," Flint said as his aunt squeezed him.
She let go of him. "You've grown up so much!"
His other two aunts came up to him too. "It's our little Flint!"
And they squeezed him too. After they let go of him, they looked
down.
One of them said, "You have a Pikachu! Then you shouldn't have
any trouble
battling Shari."
"Shari?" asked Flint.
"She's the new gym leader now. We got too old to battle, so we
just drop
by every so often and make sure everything's in good shape."
"Oh. Well, bring on this Shari!" Flint exclaimed determined.
"You ready
Pikachu?"
"Pika!" it said, determined as well.
"Shari!" one of the aunts called. "Another trainer is here!"
Shari came down the stairs and over to where Flint and the aunts
were. Who
Flint saw was the most beautiful girl that ever lived. She was about
his
age, and he started blushing, but tried to hide it by picking up Pikachu,
and holding him in front of his face.
"Pika-Pika," Pikachu muttered. (He's not doing a very good job
of hiding.)
"This is Shari. Shari, this is our nephew, Flint," one of the
aunts said.
"Hello," Shari said as she put out her hand for Flint to shake.
Flint
shook her hand, nervously. "No offense or anything," Shari started
to say,
"but you kind of look like a Pikachu."
Flint pulled Pikachu from his face. "Oh, sorry. I, uh, had an
itch and
uh... Pikachu likes to scratch my itches."
"Pika?" (I do?)
"Um...okay," Shari said as she raised an eyebrow. "So, do you
want a
match?"
Flint forgot about his crush. "Yeah!"
They walked into the ring, which was a pool with a few platforms,
and
Shari yelled, "Just because you're my bosses' nephew, doesn't mean
I'll go
any easier on you!"
Flint yelled back. "I don't want you to! And I don't need you
to either!
I'll win this match fair and square!"
"You're pretty overconfident for a guy that has a crush on me!"
Flint started blushing. "I don't have a crush on you! If you
were the last
girl alive I wouldn't have a crush on you!"
(Of course Flint knew that wasn't true.)
Flint's aunts started to giggle. They sighed, "Ahh, puppy love."
"Let's cut the chat and get on with the match!" Shari exclaimed.
"Gladly," Flint replied.
"We'll each use two Pokemon!"
"Psyduck, go!" he said as he threw his Pokeball. "I'm saving
you for
later," he said to Pikachu.
"Okay! Staryu, go!" she threw her Pokeball and Staryu came out.
After Flint analyzed Staryu with his Pokedex, he said, "Psyduck,
we'll
start off slow! Scratch attack!"
Psyduck ran up to Staryu and scratched it over and over again.
"Ha! Psyduck is conquering!" Flint bragged.
"Staryu, go underwater!"
Staryu jumped off the platform and into the water.
"Psy-duck!" Psyduck said as it held up its hand. (I broke a nail
on that
one!)
"Forget about that, Psyduck! Just get Staryu!" Flint ordered.
Psyduck put a toe in the water and took it out immediately and
shivered.
"Duck! Psyduck!" it said. (The water's too cold!)
"Psyduck, if you don't go in the water, I'll push you in myself!"
Psyduck sighed and slowly went in. But as soon as it did, Staryu
came flew
out, tackling Psyduck!
"Psyduck!" Flint yelled.
Psyduck flew into the air and landed on its back on one of the
platforms.
"Psy-y-yduck," it said. (Ouch.)
"Are you okay, Psyduck?" Flint asked worried.
Suddenly, Staryu tackle Psyduck again, this time knocking it
into the
water.
"Psyduck!!" Flint yelled.
Psyduck climbed out of the water and onto a platform. It stood
up again.
"Alright! Okay Psyduck, scratch it again!"
Psyduck ran up to Staryu and dove out it, arms outstretched.
But Staryu
dodged.
"Staryu! Water Gun!" Shari yelled.
Staryu hit Psyduck with loads of water and Psyduck fell down,
but still on
the platform.
"Ha! You should call Psyduck back, while you still have the chance!"
Shari
said.
Flint reluctant to call Psyduck, did. "Psyduck, return!"
But Psyduck dodged the red beam of light that came out of the
Pokeball.
"Psyduck? Why did you move?" Flint asked.
"Psyduck! Psy-y-y-duck! Psy!" Psyduck yelled.
Pikachu explained to Flint what Psyduck said. (Psyduck wants
to prove
itself to you, and is determined to win this battle. If it doesn't
win this
battle, it will die trying. It won't give up.)
Flint looked at Psyduck's determined face and then said, "Okay,
Psyduck!
Give it your best shot!"
Psyduck nodded. Then it closed its eyes.
"Alright, Psyduck!" Flint cheered. "You better watch out, Shari!
Psyduck
is revved up!"
"What?" asked Shari. "Forget this! Staryu tackle it!"
Staryu rose from the ground and spun towards Psyduck. A few seconds
from
when Staryu would've hit Psyduck, Flint yelled, "Psyduck, Disable!"
Psyduck opened it eyes, raised its arms and yelled, "Psy...DUCK!!"
All of a sudden Staryu was frozen in mid-air.
"Hey! What's going on?" asked Shari.
"Psyduck, Confusion!" Flint ordered.
A blue glow surrounded Psyduck and he pointed towards Staryu.
It raised
its finger and Staryu floated upwards and hit the ceiling. Then it
dropped
its finger and Staryu fell down on the platform. It kept repeating
this
process until finally Shari said reluctantly, "Staryu, return!"
A red glow came from Shari's Pokeball and Staryu went back in.
The glow around Psyduck disappeared and Psyduck laid down on
the platform.
"Psy-y-y," it said. (I'm going to bed.)
"Okay, Psyduck," Flint said happily. "Return!" The red glow from
Flint's
Pokeball came out and Psyduck went into it.
Shari threw another Pokeball. "Octopon*! Go!" A red beam came
out of the
Pokeball and a octopus like Pokemon came out.
"What's that?" asked Flint.
He took out his Pokedex. "Octopon, an octopus Pokemon. It will
use attacks
like Ink on its opponents and then try to escape, if it is wild." He
put
the Pokedex back in his pocket.
"Okay, Pikachu," Flint said. "You ready?"
"Pika!" Pikachu exclaimed. (Yeah!)
"An electric Pokemon?" said Shari. This won't be easy, she thought.
"Octopon, wrap attack!"
Octopon jumped in the water and stretched its tentacles towards
Pikachu.
But Pikachu jumped out of the way just in time.
"Pikachu! Thundershock!" yelled Flint.
Pikachu used its electricity on Octopon, but Octopon went underwater.
"Just wait for it to come out Pikachu!" Flint said.
But Octopon came up under the platform Pikachu was standing on
and knocked
him in the water.
"Pikachu!" yelled Flint. "Hurry! Get out of the water!"
Pikachu tried to climb up on the platform, but Octopon pulled
it
underneath.
"Pikachu!" Flint yelled, worried.
All of a sudden a big bolt of lightning shot out of the water,
causing
Flint and Shari to fall in. Then Pikachu swan up to the surface. They
all
got on the platforms and Shari called back Octopon.
"Good job, Pikachu! You shocked it underwater, didn't you?" Flint
asked.
"Pikachu!" Pikachu said. (Yup.)
Shari sighed and said to Flint, "Well, here's the Cascadebadge."
And she
pulled out a badge.
Flint took it and put it in his coat, "Alright! A Cascadebadge!
That's
number two!"
He and Shari shook hands.
"You did good, Flint," Shari said.
"Thanks," Flint replied.
Flint's aunts walked up to him and squeezed him again. "Oh, we're
so proud
of you, Flint!" they said happily.
Then his aunts huddled and whispered for a while, and then one
of them
finally said, "Shari, we know how much you want to become a water Pokemon
Master, so you will join Flint on his quest."
Shari's eyes widened, "Do you mean it? I can really go."
"Sure. We always hear you talking about it, and we think it's
for the
best."
"But, what about the gym?"
"Hey, we can take care of it. We have Pokemon, and we're not
that old. Go
on. Fulfill your dream."
"Wow. Thanks so much," she said as she hugged them. "Although
the company
leaves something to be desired."
"Hey! Shut up," Flint said to Shari. "It's not gonna be really
peachy for
me either."
After they said their goodbyes to Flint's aunts, they walked
towards the
Pokemon Center.
Shari spoke up as they were walking. "But, I thought you liked
me."
"At first I did, but now I see that you're a snob," Flint said
as he
looked away.
Shari hit him on the head.
As they were arguing away, Flint's aunts were standing outside
the gym.
"They're gonna get along just fine."
When Flint and Shari got to the Pokemon Center, Ollie and Jackie
were
already there. He introduced Shari to the group. "Guys, this is Shari.
She'll be joining us in our journey. All's I gotta say is, it woesn't
my
idea," he muttered.
"Hey!" Jackie said as she hit Flint on the head. "You be nice
to our new
friend!"
Then she turned to Shari. "Shari, I'm Jackie. It's very nice
to meet you."
Ollie walked up. "I'm Ollie."
They all shook hands, while Flint rubbed his head. "Man I'm gonna
have a
bump the size of an Onix."
"Well then, you shouldn't be so mean," Jackie said. "Well, Shari.
It's
nice to finally have another girl in the group. I need someone to talk
to.
It gets pretty bad having to lug these guys everywhere."
Shari laughed. "Well, I think I'm gonna have quite an interesting
journey."
So, Flint has a new badge, and the group has a new friend. And
they headed
out of Cerulean City.
*Author's note: I made up Octopon. They need to have more new Pokemon
now,
because after all, it is 25 years later. Scientists probably would've
discovered new species by then.
