Pokemon: the Next Generation
       by David Goode

25 years ago, a boy named Ash Ketchum dreamed of becoming a Pokemon
Master. After a long journey with his friends, Brock, Misty, and his
Pokemon, Pikachu, his dream came true. When he became an adult, he married
Misty, and they had two children, Flint and Zoe. Brock also married, and
had a kid named Ollie. Both Flint and Ollie dreamed of becoming Pokemon
Masters, but they weren't rivals. They were the best of friends. This story
is about them, and their Pokemon journey...

Tommorow was the big day. The day that Flint and his best friend Ollie
would begin their Pokemon journey and become Pokemon masters. While they
were discussing what Pokemon they would choose, Flint's little sister Zoe,
ran into his room.
"Hey, hey! What Pokemon are you gonna choose, Flint?! Huh, huh, huh?!"
said Zoe as she ran around his room.
"Zoe, go away. Shouldn't you be asleep?" moaned Flint.
"Mommy said I could stay up a little longer because I won't see you for a
long, long time!"
Flint thought about that for a moment and then hugged Zoe. "I'm sorry,
Zoe. I wasn't thinking about that. But, could you leave me and Ollie alone
for a minute so we can talk? I'll get you a lollipop."
"Oh, yay! Okay, but don't let me go to bed without giving you a good night
kiss," said Zoe as she bounced out of the room.
"So, Flint," said Ollie. "Which one are you gonna choose?"
 "I don't know. Maybe a Charmander."
"I think I'll take a Bulbasaur. But, I wish I could get a rock Pokemon to
start out with, just like Dad."
 "Yah."
 Just then, Pikachu walked in.
 "Hey, Pikachu," greeted Flint.
"Pika-Pika," replied Pikachu. (Hi, Flint. Hi, Ollie)
 "How's it goin'?" said Ollie.
 "Pikachu," (okay.)
"Pikachu, what Pokemon would be a good one to start out with?" asked
Flint.
"Pi-Pi-Pikachu Pika," (Well, Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle are all
good choices. But, I'd go with... hmm...trying to figure out a Pokemon to
choose is harder than it sounds.)
"Tell me about it," said Flint. "I was thinking about getting Charmander."
 "Pika-Pi," (go for it.)
Just then, Ash walked in. "Hey, guys. Ollie, you're mother called. She
says she wants you to come home."
"Okay," said Ollie. "Bye, Flint. See ya, Pikachu"
 "Bye, Ollie."
 "Oh, and Ollie," said Ash.
 "Yes?"
 "Don't oversleep like I did."
Ollie laughed. "Okay, uncle Ash." (Ash wasn't really his uncle, but he
just called him that because he'd known Ash his whole life.)
Then Zoe ran into the room. "Are you leaving, Ollie?"
 "Yah."
Zoe hugged Ollie and then ran off.
"Dad, I need to ask you a question," Flint said. "Why didn't you ever make
Pikachu evolve? I mean, you've almost had him 25 years."
"Well, Pikachu and I have been friends for years, and I just never wanted
him to change. And Pikachu didn't want to change either."
 "Pi-Pi," said Pikachu (That's right.)
The next morning, Ash shook Flint. "Hey, get up, buddy. Today's the big
day."
"Mmphhph," mumbled Flint as he put his head under his pillow.
"Okay, Flint. You've asked for it. Not too much, Pikachu."
Pikachu jumped on Flint's bed and shot a tiny jolt of electricity at
Flint. Just enough to wake him up.
"AAAHHH!!" yelled Flint as he shot out of bed. "Okay! Okay! I'm up! Man, I
need an alarm clock." He went into the bathroom and took a shower. After
that, he went downstairs to the kitchen, where Misty was cooking breakfast,
and Ash was sitting at the table.
"Hey, Mom," he looked around the room. "Where's Zoe?"
 "She's still sleeping," replied Misty.
"I'll go upstairs and say goodbye."
Flint went to Zoe's room and saw her sleeping. She looks so peaceful,
Flint thought. Then he took out a lollipop and put it on her nightstand. He
tiptoed out into the hallway.
"Wait, Flint," said Zoe as she ran out of her bed and hugged Flint.
"I'll see ya, munchkin," he said after she got back in bed.
 Then he went back downstairs.
"We'll come by Prof. Oak's after you get your Pokemon," said Misty. (It
wasn't the same Prof. Oak. The new Prof. Oak was Gary, Ash's old rival.)
"Okay." Flint walked out the door and over to Ollie's house. Ollie was
outside waiting for Flint.
"Well, let's go," said Ollie. And the two friends went toward Prof. Oak's
house to fulfill their dream.
