POKEMON: A New Journey
By Garrett Miller
Part One

Ok, let me just give you the setting and time of this fanfic. The boy, named Austin Ketchum (Cousin of Ash Ketchum) is from Pallet town. He is 10, and is extremely eager (just like any other trainers starting their journey) and ready to start his journey. He starts his journey exactly one year after Ash Ketchum. He was jealous of Ash because Ash got to start his journey before him and so far was off to a good start. As said before, any comments are welcome- just email me. Well, let the journey begin!:
 ***
My cousin Ash and I grew up together. We both loved pokemon just as much as the other, but he was a year older than me so he got to go on is journey before me. But I don't hate Ash. But there is one person I truly hate- Jonny Swift. Ever since first grade he has been smarter than me. He even knows every single Pokemon's move and at whst level they would learn them at. But this time, when we would start our journeys' I am determined to beat him.
But this morning, I wasn't thinking about Jonny. I was up bright and early eating my breakfast. I had prepared my pack the night before and I was ready to go. I had extra clothes, a Pokemon book that explained everything you needed to know, a compass, and a map. I was heading over to Professor Oak's to get my Pokedex and my first pokemon.
"Maybe a Bulbasaur" I thought to myself as I walked along, "Or a Charmander- I hear they're good when they evolve" I kept thinking.
I arrived at Professor Oak's, but there was one thing that caught my eye- There wasn't a crowd!
"What?" I asked myself in astonishment.
I walked up to flight of steps and knocked on the door. The proffesor answered it.
"Well, Austin, its good to see you. But where were you yesterday?" He asked
"Yesterday? What do you mean?" I asked with a worried look on my face.
He replied, "Well, I gave away all my pokemon and you weren't there."
"But you told me to come on Sunday!"
"Oh- I remember now. I have a very poor memory, you see. I'm really sorry, Austin."
"But this isn't fair! Now Jonny will become the greatest pokemon trainer and I won't because I couldn't get a starting pokemon!"
"Now wait just a minute, Austin, I'm not saying that all hope is lost. Follow me" he said as he invited me inside.
I followed him to a machine that had a window on it. It sorta looked like a microwave, except that there was a weird, red glow emmiting from the window.
"What's this" I asked the proffesor.
"Well, Austin this is a photosynthetic hypoglosserating fidget."
 "A what?????"
"Its an incubator*" he replied with a sigh.
(*An incubator is a "oven" that helps eggs synthetically hatch w/o a mother)
I then replied with astonishment, "Cool! What's in it?"
"Well, Austin, that's for me to know and for you to find out" he said with a chuckle.
"Jerk" I muttered under my breath.
 "What was that, Austin?"
"Oh... um, nothing. Anyway, can I see the egg?"
"Why sure. Here you go" he replied as he opened to door to the incubator. He handed me the egg. It was generally white, but it had colored shapes on the side of it.
 "Cool" I said in awe.
"Now you must keep it warm until it hatches. I think its due to hatch in the next couple of days. Along with your pokemon, I mean egg, here's your Pokedex, HERBERT, and 5 pokéballs. Now, don't try to catch any pokemon until you have a pokemon to fight them and weaken them first." The professor said.
"I know, Prof. So that's it? Wait until my egg hatches into a brand new pokemon or whatever and then make it strong?"
 "That's it, Austin."
"Thanks professor." I said as I started to head out the door.
"Oh, Austin. Wait!" he replied as he jogged up to me. "Take this" he then said as he handed me a potion. "It will heal your pokemon if it is injured. And be careful. Oh, and one more thing- I'll be expecting pokemon from you in a couple of weeks. Have fun and Good luck!" he said as he waved his final goodbyes.
"Ohhhh man!" I said. And then I thought to myself, "I'll get plenty of Pokemon. More than Jonny and anyone else!"
So, after saying my goodbyes to my family, I headed out of the tiny Pallet Town with my new pokemon. Well, sorta…
