Professor Oak sat tied to a chair, squinting from the bright
light being shone into his eyes. Sarah glared at him from the other side
of the room. Then she sighed and began to speak. "Let's try this again.
What are your assistants doing and what does it have to do with the 151st
pokemon?"
The professor remained silent. "Oh, c'mon!" Derrick whined.
"We've been at this for three hours now. Can't we just-"
"Shut up!" Sarah snapped. She turned back to the professor. "You
know you can't win," she mocked, "As we speak, Jean-Luc is out following
your water-training assistant. We WILL find out what he's up to, one way
or another. Now, you can make it easy for all of us if you tell us now,
or a certain someone might get hurt..."
"Tony!" Professor Oak exclaimed, "If you so much as touch him
I'll-"
"Then tell!"
"Never!"
Sarah sneered. "You're a stubborn old man. If threats won't get
to you, maybe we can motivate you... otherwise."
Derrick's eyes lit up. "You mean?" Sarah nodded. Derrick walked
out of the room. He soon returned with a strange machine.
Sarah laughed. "It's brought grown men to their knees," she said.
Derrick flicked a switch. The machine began to hum.
"It's a fate worse than death!" Derrick turned a knob. The hum
grew louder. "It's..." Derrick picked up the microphone. "...Karaoke!"
Professor Oak gasped. "Please hurry, boys," he thought to himself.

Tony stood outside the entrance to the Cerulean City Gym. He
took a deep breath and walked inside. It was pitch black."Hello?" Nobody
answered. He started groping forward. "Is anybody he- ahhhh!" Tony fell
into a pool. Just as he got out coughing and sputtering, all the lights
came on, revealing a girl at
the other side of the pool.
"Sorry about that," she said, "The lights take a while to warm
up. I'm Misty, the leader of the gym. You are?"
"Tony." Tony said, wiping off his glasses.
"Let me guess," Misty mused, "You're here to try and defeat me
and get my Cascadebadge, right?" Before Tony could answer, Misty said,
"Good! It's been boring around here lately. Okay, two Pokemon per player,
player must surrender to stop the fight. Got it?"
"Well- uh-." Tony sputtered.
"Okay," Misty said, "Let's go!" Misty threw her Pokeball. "Starmie,
go!"
Tony, in a hurry, just picked out a ball and threw it. "Whatever,
just go!" Amazingly enough, it was his Starmie."
"The plot thickens." Misty said. "Starmie, Starslap!"
Tony yelled, "Starmie, Starblade!" Both Starmies began to spin.
Slowly at first, then faster and faster. They began to rise out of the
water, facing each other. All of the sudden, they both flew at each other.
They both missed completely, though, and Misty and Tony had to duck as
the two Starmies flew over their heads and through the windows on both
sides of the gym. "What the?" Tony exclaimed.
Misty shrugged. "Draw. Next!" Misty threw another Pokeball. "Vaporeon,
go!"
Tony threw his Pokeball. "Blastoise, go!"
"Now we got something!" Misty said. The two Pokemon faced off.
"Vaporeon, Mist Attack!" The Vaporeon emitted a thick fog.
Blastoise looked puzzled, then he started to wobble. "Blastoise,
Wake Up!" The huge turtle dove into the pool. The Vaporeon looked into
the water, searching for Blastoise. All of a sudden a two huge blasts of
water erupted from the pool. One hit the Vaporeon head-on slamming it into
the wall. The other blast hit Misty. She screamed. "Blastoise, Stop!" Tony
commanded. The turtle turned off its jets.
Vapereon leaned against the wall, alive but too weak to go on.
Misty shook her head. "Vapereon, return!" The Vapereon returned to the
Pokeball in a flash of red light.
"I won!" Tony yelled.
"Never have I seen a more dazzling display..." Misty said.
"Thanks." Tony said.
Misty wrung extra water from her shirt. "... of DUMB LUCK!" she
yelled. She threw the Cascadebadge at Tony. "Take it and get outta here!"
she fumed. Both Tony and Blastoise shrunk back from Misty. Tony picked
the badge up off the ground and they both beat a hasty retreat. "And don't
come back!" Misty yelled after them. The two Starmies flew back through
the windows, smacked into each other and fell into the pool with a plop...

Tony walked down the road. "Holy Magikarp, that was dificult!"
he said to himself. I hope Ron and David have better luck winning the Boulderbadge
and Volcanobadge, or we could be in big trouble." Tony glanced around,
and began walking again. Long after Tony was gone down the road, a rustle
came from the bushes. "Sarah, Derrick, come in." Jean-Luc said into his
radio. "I think I found out what those fools are doing..."
