Episode X- Sky Gauntlet
by SPOT4
David shot after Sarah, trying to catch up with her and somehow
bring her to the ground. She would escape if he didn't get to her soon.
She flew over the treetops of the forest, and he followed her every move,
looking for a way that he could catch up to her. He leaned flat against
the back of his Charizard in order to make it more aerodynamic. He had
to catch her.
Sarah looked back to see where her rival was. It was in that
moment that she almost led her Charizard into a tree, slowing her down
as she corrected her mistake. But it was just enough. David pulled up alongside
her now. She kicked David's Charizard as they came closer to her, and they
fell back a little. David pulled away from a tree, and pulled in behind
her again. He knew that if he tried to attack her, his Charizard would
slow down a little, and that wouldn't be any good. David thought that he
had been through this route in the woods before. It looked so familiar.
Before too long, they shot out of the woods over a huge body of water,
headed, David thought, still south.
Sarah pulled close to the water, trying to get David to overcompensate
and dip in. David pulled clear of the waves, and continued on after her.
She shot inbetween waves, daring David to do the same manuevers. David
opted to use the time to catch up with her, and they were neck and neck
again. David tried to move close to Sarah's Charizard, but this time, as
she kicked out, he moved back, throwing her off balance. She recovered
before falling off of the dragon, and tried to cut in front of him. They
were over a small town by now. Actually, it just seemed small because they
were up so high.
Apparently, she had had enough of a chase. She pulled a sharp
turn and yelled, "Charizard, Flame Thrower!"
David dodged the flames, and circled around her. "Charizard,
Slash!" David's Charizard was not used to David being on his back while
it was fighting, and so it lost its balance for a second. The attack was
forgotten in the attempt to stay in the air, and Sarah charged at them,
hand in a fist. David was looking at the same fist that had almost knocked
him off of a cliff in Safari Zone, but was now trying to knock him off
of his Charizard at a very high altitude. What was her obsession with heights?
Suddenly, a Pidgeot slammed into her side, knocking her off balance
yet again. David looked around. "What in the world?"
A huge Fearow cast a shadow overtop of both hovering Charizards.
It dove down to reveal a trainer riding on its back. He threw another Pokeball.
"Spearow, Wing Attack!" The Spearow launched out of the Pokeball, and whipped
its wings about, attacking Sarah's Charizard. "Come on, birds, Sky Attack!"
The Pidgeot and Spearow began to glow, circled the Charizard, and blasted
into it with all they had.
The Charizard had had enough. "Chaaarrrrr...." It fainted and
plunged towards the water. Sarah held onto its back as they fell.
The kid on the back of the Fearow spoke again. "Fearow! Let's
go!" The two dove down out of the sky and scooped up Sarah.
The Spearow and Pidgeot struggled to lift the Charizard away
from the water, until Sarah pulled out her Pokeball. "I'll take that! Charizard,
return!"
The kid leaned over the shoulder of his huge Fearow. "Hi, Sarah!
Remember me?"
David pulled up beside them on his Charizard. "Todd!"
Todd laughed. "Looks like this time, I chalk up the win against
Rocket, eh, David?" The group began flying back to Mount Moon.
