The Three Little Pikachu

(A folk tale for Pokemon that are wary of getting in Pokeballs)

by Joanna Shalvoy

Once, in a shaded wood, there were three little Pikachu. To distinguish them, we shall call them Pi, Ka, and Chu. Pi lived in a haystack, Ka lived in a hollow oak, and Chu lived in an abandoned Pokeball. Chu would often try to convince his friends to use the other Pokeballs he had found, telling of the safety and security he found in them, but they would always laugh and say they preferred their freedom.

This was before Big Rai came to town. Big Rai, six inches taller than a Raichu should be, was the strong, silent type. Don't bother him and he wouldn't bother you.

One night Pi and Ka were building a pyramid out of apples. They had almost finished, when Big Rai came walking through. He stopped, looked at the pyramid, then continued on his way. As he was walking away, his tail bumped the pyramid, though no one could tell whether it was an accident or not.

Well, Pi and Ka were very annoyed. In fact they were down right mad! They went right over to Big Rai and yelled at him in the nastiest language a Pikachu knows. They called him names, as tame as "a big oaf" to some things to awful to write. During all this, Big Rai didn't say a word. Until Ka said the biggest insult a Pikachu knows; He called him a "weak zapper."

As soon as Ka said that, Big Rai started to build up energy.

"Rai....Rai....Rai....RAI....." With each "Rai" his cheeks crackled with the pent-up electricity. Pi and Ka, realizing their mistake, were too afraid to move. They cowered together as Big Rai continued.

"RAAAAIIIIIICHUUUUUUUUU!!!!" The sparks flew everywhere, but, surprisingly, none of them hit Pi and Ka. "Rai,Raichu. RAI!!!(That was just a warning. You better run!)"

Taking his warning, Pi and Ka ran for all they were worth! Big Rai waited a moment, and then cut to the chase. Finally, Pi and Ka got to their homes, which were next to each other. Big Rai saw them, and began to charge up again. This time he hit his targets. Unfortunately, wood and hay are not the best at deflecting electricity. Pi and Ka were up and out in a flash! Big Rai continued after them.

"Where should we go?" Pi asked, panting.

"Somewhere! Quick!!" Ka answered. As they ran, they passed a clearing where a lone pokeball stood. "CHU!!!!" they both cried at the same time. They took a turn and headed toward their friend. Knocking on his pokeball, they cried "Let us in, Chu! Quick, let us in!"

From inside the pokeball, Chu answered them. "There isn't room for more than one in here! Get to the other balls." Chu was glad that they had finally listened to him, but wished they had picked a more convenient time.

"Hurry! He's coming!" Pi said as Ka rolled two Pokeballs out from behind a tree. They each pressed the button on the front and were pulled in just as Big Rai caught up with them.

While they had been running, Big Rai had been charging up. He vented his wrath with the largest Thundershock Attack that had ever been seen, before or since. But Pi, Ka, and Chu, safe in their Pokeballs, were unaffected. Big Rai, however, fell over from exhaustion.

After that, Pi, Ka, and Chu lived happily in their Pokeballs.

THE END

Author's note: I wrote most of this in the car. And no, you only think it resembles another story.
